SCHOOL OF STATESMANSHIP

The aim of the proposed School of statesmanship is to indentify, facilitate the potential persons particularly youths to evolve themselves to the stature of statesmen who can act on and intervene in the social system and governance processes of the nation, not for narrow personal and political power gain but from the perspective of large public good and in the interest of nation in the long term and able to put the new life in the social, cultural and governance system of the Country and to develop the social value system, consistency, peacefulness, harmony, tolerance and holistic environment in the society. 

1. The vision of the proposed institute of statesmanshipis to identify and  facilitate the potentialpersons particularly youths  to evolve themselves to the stature of statesmen who can act on and intervene in the social and governance processes of the nation, not for narrow personal and political power gain and vested interest but from the perspective of large public good and in the interest of nation in the long term and able to put the new life in the social, cultural and governance system of the Country. It will be our endeavor that they should know history of past 5000 years, social/cultural traditions India, the roots of independence movement, governance systems, strongness and weakness of Indian society and orienting them in global dynamics and futuristic perspectives.

 

2. For this, it is proposed to establish an institution which will undertake to provide orientation and build capacities for being good leaders and mentors for the social change and human development.The institution will not adhere to any particular political or ideological doctrine.It will aim to instill a spirit of open enquiry and ability to make enlightened judgment in the face of contending views and doctrines.

 

3. The institute will provide for in-house faculty for regular interaction with those learners. In addition to this, selected resource persons will be invited to engage with them on variety of contemporary issues. The Acharyas/Guru/Resource Persons will play a facilitator’s role. The institution will initially identify the Acharyas/Trainers to build their capacity to become effective facilitators for the future statesmen/leaders by exposing them to the institution’s unique methodology and perspective. The institution will prepare a course curriculum, learning modules and resource centres cum research program.

 

4. It is proposed to identify and select 20-25 aspirants during first phase, who will undertake this program. It is a residential programme of 3 years duration. A residential facility, a library and an expert group for enhancing their learning will be made available by the institution to these aspirants. The facility will be equipped with simple living arrangements and learning facilities and environment.The aspirants would be encouraged to transform themselves in to a good statesmen and living a life full of virtues, values and high ideals.The aspirants will be provided living conditions which is harmonious with nature. In addition these aspirants will be facilitated for making exposure visits in different part of the country and engagements with different social and governance processes.

 

5. The selection of these potential future statesmen will be based on following criteria: Age- between 21-30 years; Gender- male and female; Educational qualification: minimum graduate; Existing skills and capacities: (i) demonstrated analytic and synthetic abilities (ii) demonstrated track record of spirit of enquiry and learnings with an interdisciplinary perspective (iii) demonstrated commitment to make positive changes in society and governance  processes for the larger public good and in national interest in longer term;The aspiring candidates should be free from immediate family financial responsibilities and the intensive care of the parents so that they can devote their whole time for their development and use their ability and capacity for the Country. They may be able to devote themselves for building of nation and positive changes in the society.

 

6. These facilities and arrangements which includes lodging, boarding, training expenses and working expenses will be provided without charging any fee from those aspirants who will undergo and attend seriously for complete duration of the programme.

 

7. It is expected that after undergoing this learning experience and attending the full programme, the aspirants would be able to develop Critical outlook: based on sound intellectual training– familiarity with major intellectual: philosophical, cultural and sociological traditions,the aspirants will be well equipped, Physically, mentally, intellectually and spiritually and with desired skills, capacities and understanding for being a mentor for human development, a agent of social change and social reform, a good legislature, an apostle of truth and a constructive worker. develop commitment to truth and communicative action.

 

8. On completion of programme, the Aspirants/Learners are free to take their own pathand decision. Neither institutionexpect any return from them nor future support is envisaged for these aspirants after completion of this training and learning programme.

 

9.  It is proposed to start the first batch within the next one year.

 

10.Faculty and Course Curriculum

 

The process of identification of faculty, preparation of course curriculum and learning modules and equipping the facilities for this residential programme are in process. The faculty will develop the curriculum and learning methodology based on the mainly following subjects.

·        Philosophy and Ethics

·        Society, culture and tradition

·        History of past 5000 years

·        Economics and tax structureof the country

·        Dharma, Religionsand customs

·        Global Politics
